Chefs Tips #9 – Tips & Tricks for the Chef
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR THE CHEF!
Today I am going to share with you a few little hints which can come in handy when storing, chopping, cooking and preparing your food. Anything to make your life and work in the kitchen a little faster and more efficient. Enjoy!
1.Cottage Cheese & Sour Cream:
When storing cottage cheese and sour cream in the refrigerator, turn the containers upside down, this will form a vacuum and prevent bacteria from growing.
2.Pot Lids
To prevent the pot or pan lid from slipping closed during cooking, take a wooden peg, clamp it on the rim of the pot, and replace the lid. This will prevent the food from boiling over.
3.Whole Spices
Use a coffee grinder to make your own unique blends. Investing in a coffee grinder is a good idea because it‘s handy for grinding nuts as well.
4.Cutting Squash and Butternut
Use a mallet and tap on your butcher‘s knife to cut the pumpkin or butternut.
5.Funnel
Need a quick and disposable funnel? Simply cut off the corner of an envelope.
6.Peeling Ginger
Use a spoon to peel your ginger, it makes life easier.
Oil or Fat on Soup
• A lettuce leaf dropped into a pot of soup will absorb excess fat from the surface.
• Once the soup is cool, drop an ice cube or two into the soup and the fat will congeal making it easy for you to scoop it out.

I am offering a safe and natural alternative to conventional treatment, but these recipes, ideas and treatment should not be misconstrued or substituted for medical advice. Please always proceed with caution and test it first on a small area, or in small quantities, if you are uncertain. Should you suspect that you or your animal have a medical problem, I urge you to seek professional advice.
