The Healing Power of Vitamin C

in #health6 years ago

Vitamin C is arguably the most famous vitamin. We've all heard about it since we were kids. Whenever someone gets sick, the first thing most people think of that will help is vitamin C. The first thing that comes to most people's minds when they think of vitamin C is how good it is for you when you're sick. The second thing we think of is oranges. However, there's a lot more to know about vitamin C. It's far more useful than being a cold remedy, and there are other foods higher in Vitamin C than oranges.

It may come as a surprise to learn that while most animals make vitamin C, we don't. In fact, humans are one of the only mammals that don't make or store vitamin C. Since the human body is unable to make it on its own, it's imperative that we consume vitamin C regularly.

Vitamin C is one of the safest substances known to man. There's no known lethal dose of vitamin C, yet we all know you can die from drinking water. So in a sense it's a safer than water.

Vitamin C Is Safer And More Effective Than Drugs

You'd think that because vitamin C is so safe and is essential to good health it would be given in hospitals, but that's rarely the case. If hospital patients were given transdermal magnesium therapy, vitamin D, and vitamin C, many of their problems would go away without even getting treatment from a doctor. Many medications wouldn't be necessary if patients had adequate levels of these important nutrients.

Watch this 60 Minutes video of a man who was in a coma because of the swine flu and was going to be deprived of life by his doctors who were going to take him off of life support. Luckily his family requested IV vitamin C, which saved his life!

About 1.5 million hospital visits occur each year because of adverse drug reactions. An additional 770,000 patients suffer from adverse drug reactions inside the hospital. That's over 2 million people, including over 100,000 fatalities! That's a lot of business hospitals are getting due to their negligence.

Adverse drug reactions are one of the leading causes of death in the United States. The sad thing is most of adverse reactions could have been prevented. Why are we killing 100,00o people per year with drugs without even attempting to address nutritional needs such as vitamin C first? It's terrible for the people injured, and for everyone paying into the medical system because most hospital bills are paid via insurance, medicare, and medicaid, but it's good for business. The doctors and pharmaceutical companies are making a killing! (pun intended)

Health Benefits of Vitamin C

  • Antioxidant
  • Antihistamine
  • Co-factor for carnatine, which shuttles fat into mitochondria where most of our energy is produced
  • Protects against the #1 killer - heart disease
  • Cholestrol metabolism
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Building collagen - eyes, skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments are all full of collagen
  • Stimulates the immune system

Vitamin C & The Immune System

Vitamin C stimulates the immune system in at least 20 different ways. Some of them include producing:
  • B-cells
  • T-cells
  • Interferons
  • antibodies
  • Natural killer cells

Ways Vitamin C Helps With Diabetes

  • Improves insulin sensitivity
  • sugar and vitamin C are both taken in by the same receptors of the cells
  • Blood vessel health is very important for diabetics. Vitamin C is very beneficial for the blood vessels of diabetics

How Vitamin C Combats Oxidative Stress

Some oxidative stress is normal. But too much can be bad for the body. Oxidative stress causes inflammation.

Oxidative stress is caused by:

  • Breathing
  • Digestion
  • White blood cells killing dangerous microbes and viruses
  • Toxin

Vitamin C Plays An Important Role In Developement

Vitamin C will be given to a baby even if the mother doesn't have enough to give. This shows how important it is for babies and suggests mothers should be sure they're getting an adequate amount of it. It plays an important role in:
  • Growth
  • Cell division
  • Bones
  • May help prevent jaundice
The amount of vitamin C a fetus is given:
  • 3x in amniotic fluid
  • 2x in placenta
  • 2x in cord

Where To Get Vitamin C

  1. Food - bell peppers, kiwi, berries, citrus, kale, broccoli, etc.
  2. Food-sourced vitamin C powder.
  3. Liposomal vitamin C - highest bioavailability for optimal intracellular access. It's great for babies too.
  4. Sodium ascorbate - bowel tolerance daily dosing. Also great to take when you're sick. Optimizes extracellular access, lymphatic and immune system, and gut detoxification.
  5. Oral ascorbyl palmitate - optimal fat-solubility
  6. IV - administered by a professional
Do not buy Ester-C (calcium ascorbate). It's readily available, but it's not good because it causes calcium build up in the body. Instead, take sodium ascorbate.

You can try to get all of your vitamin C from food, but why rely soley on your diet? The recommended daily amount (RDA) and the optimal amount are two different things. Most people won't consistently get enough vitamin C from their diet. So supplementing is very important.

Liposomal Vitamin C

One of the greatest breakthroughs we've had in medicine is liposomal vitamin C. There are other liposomal products, such as liposomal glutathione, but liposomal vitamin C is probably the most popular. One of the leading brands of liposomal vitamin C is LivOn Labs. Watch the short video about it below.

Many people choose to make their own liposomal vitamin C at home because it's much cheaper that way. There are plenty of places online to learn how to do so. However, vitamin C expert and author of Primal Panacea, Dr. Thomas Levy, warns that while making your own liposomal vitamin C at home is better than taking regular vitamin C, it's really just an emulsion rather than actual liposomes. When making liposomal vitamin C at home, he says it does increase bioavailability and it allows you to intake more of it than regular vitamin C before getting diarrhea, but if you're really sick and trying to recover from a chronic illness it's best to buy liposomal vitamin C instead of making it yourself. Dr. Levy also recommends what he calls a "Multi-C Protocol" where you take vitamin C in multiple forms to get the best effect.

Learn more details about the science of liposomal vitamin C in the video below.

This is nonsense! My doctor says all I need are my monthly 16 prescriptions daily and a flu vaccine every year. Not any stupid natural vitamins 😁
