Mermaid Ponds - A Secluded Private Area in Big Island

When I need to escape from the "regular world" ... I drive a short distance over to these secluded tide pool ponds in Big Island.

They are ponds shielded from the rough seas around it. It's fun to swim in the pond and wait for a big wave to crash and splash all over the place.

Just be sure to have shoes or REALLY sturdy slippahs ... because mine broke on the way back and I had to hike across the sharp, jagged a'a for about 1/2 of mile back to the car.
