BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin

BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin is not really a food but a supplement. Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant that is said to support joints, skin, cardiovascular, eyes, and the body's recovery after strenuous exercise. The astaxanthin in BioAstin is derived from microalgae and is grown on land in controlled fresh water ponds in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is the red pigment color found in salmon, shrimp, crab, and even the pink color in flamingos. I've been taking it for over 5 years and I've noticed that it does help suppress sunburn and joint pain & stiffness. I take one 12mg pill once a day but they also have a 4mg one that you need to take three a day. It seems to be helpful, however, i's a bit on the high side in price. A bottle of 25 12mg pills cost about $25. A bottle of 50 4mg pills cost about $24.
