Outrigger Canoes

Saw these outrigger canoes on the beach. You may see them lined up at a few beaches in Hawaii. This type of canoe has one or more lateral support floats known as outriggers. The outriggers provide stability to the canoe so these canoes are usually built narrower and longer than single hull canoes. Some outrigger canoes are used in races by clubs or teams, thus the number of outriggers side by side. You may have seen some of the teams practicing.
