One last edition before the holiday break
This 14th edition of the contest Mizu no Oto will accompany us until after Christmas (as you will understand from the picture).
Later, we will take two weeks of well-deserved break to dedicate ourselves to our families and to work on the Quest in the Realms project, which will start in January and will be the new epic enterprise of the Bananafish.
I take this opportunity to wish everyone Happy Holidays! I hope they can be joyful for everyone, especially for those who are going through difficult times.
Mizu No Oto will return with the 15th edition on 11th January.
For those that want to unleash their poetic potential, here is how this contest works:
• Look at the prompt image and let yourself be inspired by it.
• Write a haiku related to the prompt image. The haiku should be composed by 3 verses with no title. The 1st verse should be 5 syllables long, the 2nd verse should be 7 syllables long, and the 3rd verse should be 5 syllables long again.
• If you aren’t confident with English enough, you can write your haiku in Spanish, French, or Italian as well. Only remember, if you write in languages different from English, please include an English translation for other readers.
• Post the haiku on your blog or in the comment section below this post. If you make your own post, don’t forget to put the link to it in the comment section below!

• Kireji (切れ字), a cut between the 1st and the 2nd verses, or between the 2nd and the 3rd; the cut can be grammatical, as a sign of punctuation, or it can be a cut in the meaning, like two different images.
• Kigo (季語), an explicit or implicit reference to a season, that defines the time of the year in which the haiku is composed or referred to.
• Sabi (寂), the sense of the inexorable passage of time, the beauty or serenity that accompanies the advance of age, when the life of the objects and its impermanence are highlighted by patina and wear or by any visible repairs.
• Wabi (侘寂), the taste for frugal and natural things, rustic simplicity, freshness or silence; it can be applied to both natural and artificial objects, or even non-ostentatious elegance.
• Mono no aware (物の哀れ), empathy with nature and human life; the "feeling of things", nostalgia, regret for the passing of time, understanding of the changeability and of the transience without suffering.
• Yūgen (幽玄), sense of wonder and mystery; it represents the state of mind produced by the inexplicable fascination of things, the feeling of an 'other' universe, full of mysterious unity.
• Karumi (軽み), beauty in simplicity; poetic beauty reflected in its simplicity, free from preconceptions and moral judgment.
• Shiori (しおり), gentleness; the levity and the delicate charm that radiates from the verses, where things are evoked in the reader without aggressiveness or excessive explicitness.
Submission deadline: Wednesday 26th December, 11:59 PM, GMT -7 (Pacific Daylight Time).
The results will be out on Thursday 27th December, 1:00 PM, GMT -7 (Pacific Daylight Time).

Gracias, @bananafish, por invitar a la lectura de mi post. Eso me emociona. Cundo me di cuenta de mi olvido, lo lamenté mucho; sin embargo, esta generosa invitación me ha dado alegría.
Una de las cosas que me ha sorprendido gratamente con estos ejercicios poéticos a través de una fotografía, es la diversidad en las emociones que inspira a cada uno de los participantes. Algunos observan la imagen desde adentro, otros desde algún rincón oculto. Algunos simplemente se detienen delante de ella. A veces la imagen cala profundamente en los sentidos y se expresa de forma natural más allá de lo que percibe la mirada. Esta vez me dejo llevar principalmente por la visión de @gracielaacevedo, @salvao, @oacevedo y @josemalavem. Seguiré percibiendo a través de la mirada de cada uno.

La foto de @marcoriccardi ha generado ejercicios de honda espiritualidad y sensibilidad, a tono con este tiempo que nos une a todos en el planeta alrededor de sentimientos muy nobles. Desde mi apreciación y gusto destaco los ejercicios presentados por @javert68justice, @gracielacevedo, @artofwisdom, @evagavilan, @salvao, @cyemela y @oacevedo. Me pareció particularmente interesante el de @artofwisdom por abrir otra visión: me remontó a “las puertas de la percepción” de Blake y Huxley; sin embargo, me entorpece su lectura la traducción a la que accedo. Así, pues, opto por el sentido de regocijo, esperanza y bondad que expresan en sus textos @cyemela, @gracielaacevedo y @javert68justice. Mi decisión es a favor de @gracielaacevedo, que en sus sencillas frases condensa la celebración del espíritu que anima la atmósfera luminosa navideña.
The photo of @marcoriccardi has generated exercises of deep spirituality and sensitivity, in tune with this time that unites us all on the planet around very noble feelings. From my appreciation and taste I highlight the exercises presented by @javert68justice, @gracielacevedo, @artofwisdom, @evagavilan, @salvao, @cyemela and @oacevedo. I found @artofwisdom particularly interesting because it opened another vision: it took me back to the "doors of perception" of Blake and Huxley; however, I find it difficult to read the translation to which I have access. So I opt for the sense of joy, hope and kindness that they express in their texts @cyemela, @gracielaacevedo and @javert68justice. My decision is in favor of @gracielaacevedo, which in its simple phrases condenses the celebration of the spirit that animates the luminous Christmas atmosphere.

La gente piensa que la belleza, la luz y el empuje a celebrar lo bueno, o lo sagrado, es una inicativa de las personas generosas. Así entiendo mi poema favorito esta semana, el haiku de @javert68justice.
lo leo como una secuencia de ideas que se funden en una sola que hace la navidad: celebrar la bondad para seguir esperándola y buscándola siempre.

People think that beauty, light and the drive to celebrate the good, or the sacred, is an initiative of generous people. So I understand my favorite poem this week, the haiku of @ javert68justice.
I read it as a sequence of ideas that merge into one that makes Christmas: celebrate goodness to continue waiting for it and always looking for it.
@javert68justice gets my vote.
