Confusion: A Haiku

in #haiku5 years ago

A haiku is a very short form of Japanese poetry in three phrases. In Japanese, haiku are traditionally printed in a single vertical line while haiku in English often appear in three lines parallel to the three phrases of Japanese haiku.

In comparison with English verse typically characterized by syllabic meter, Japanese verse counts sound units known as "on" or morae. Traditional haiku consist of 17 on, in three phrases of five, seven and five on respectively. - Wikipedia
