Did haejin predict this drop?

in #haejin6 years ago

I don't think he did. If he didn't, doesn't it reveal his posts to be virtually worthless claptrap?

I would be very interested in some analysis on his predictions vs actuality.

Perhaps we have an opportunity to revise our steem distribution?

I believe he pedals graphical nonsense, but that's just my opinion.

Personally, I think that's absolutely ridiculous. It's like this community, at least those that could do something about it, has a sadistic or self-destructive bent. It's why I felt compelled to power down, it's why I loved steemit for its unparalleled potential and loath it for its greed.

Times are crazy right now. I support and encourage people to have ambitious financial goals, but the site is being used as a cash cow and although I think there will be investors very interested in us based on user stats. I hope some of the stakeholders don't kill the Golden Goose before we get there.

There are enough of us here because we really care about what Steem represents - not just short term personal profits- to defend ourselves against people like Haejin. Unfortunately right now it seems that the "defenders" are very disorganized and broken up into too many factions.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but I hope and believe that there is one.

I totally agree with you. We need to find the means to organise and the will to get the job done.

Anything that is so obviously abuse can die before it does more damage for all I care. The trouble is life is not that simple. There is so much good here that must be salvaged.

Good lord that's six figures in US dollars in a week. That's a bit more than I make in a year.

RE: distribution. I was wondering about a lighter mechanism that was in line with an existing mechanic, something that may not receive too much resistance as a mooted idea.

We’ve got Voting Power as a thing. The value of your upvote goes down the more frequently you use it. Should Posting Power be a thing? The more excessively you start to take from the pool or take large amounts at a high frequency, a rewards throttling ratio starts to apply which gets more stringent unless you take a bit of time out to recharge.

I think posting more than 2-3 times per day is a little bit excessive much less 10-12 like some people I won't mention by name. I did 7 posts in 7 days and it's the first week that's happened since September I think.

And posting stuff that is so similar in format so many times per day with basically the same wording so it only takes the author a few minutes to create is also kind of disturbing when such high rewards are received for every single post.

No argument there.

I couldn’t even if I tried.

Actually, tell a lie, I could. If I copy and pasted every press release I got sent into a piece, I could fire things out.

I can’t do that though. I mean it is an integrity thing at least! Plus I enjoy doing a take, it’s cathartic.

But yeah, high volume implies little thought or care.

You don't want to create friction for quality I think. However, thinking creatively about solutions is a very very good thing. Keep going!

Everybody is an effin genius in a bull market. DUH!!! All he is accomplishing is raping the reward pool and lining up his peeps for a slaughter.

Agreed. I hope his peeps get a good look at the facts now.

I saw him call BTS to peak at over $300. I mean I'm bullish on BTS too and it's one of my bigger holdings but at that price I'd be worth....a few million dollars just for that one currency?? I don't see that happening. Maybe $10-20 in a few years? I don't know. I have some profits from it because I got in early and that's all I care about, not false hope of being a multi millionaire which some people are taking seriously with their expectations.

Starting to sound like a penny stock pumper on investors hub.

You know, that thought occurred to me earlier today.

I'm very happy to hear that. It should be occurring to everyone who cares about steemit, but more, to everyone who cares about the potential for a social consensus derived currency and the power for freedom and inclusiveness that would bring.

I'm seriously asking myself what I, as a minnow and new witness, can actually do about this. I don't have the power in my wallet to even make a dent with flagging.

Believe me, you are not alone. I have been racking my brains, but I can't figure how to deal with the abuse effectively....fortunately, I'm not that smart! The solution is there. It will be a question of will in the end.

Yes, you a right. First, the problem has to be recognised for what it really is, without all the emotional stuff blinding both sides of the debate. Secondly, we need to be able to discuss it without fear of incurring flags simply through disagreement of viewpoints. But as for actual solution? Until some upcoming fork seeks to address it, I'm afraid it will continue.

This is one of the reasons I powered down. I can say what I like now and they can flag me into oblivion for all I care. The reputation metric is bullshit anyway. People can review my history if they care to.

Good point buddy...one person posting 10 times daily is out of the way however the system allowed it which is wrong...good post indee, upped-always. Wish you well.

Thank you bud. I hope you are all good too. It is us that allows it.

Nobody can truly predict the market swings. They happen all the time. The crypto market lives in its own dimension with its own laws. It will rise from the ashes, higher and stronger, like it always did.

Here is an amazing post that goes over all of this: https://steemit.com/haejin/@robbie222/my-view-on-haejin-an-unbiased-opinion-new-followers-should-read-this-before-investing

It covers a very good, and pretty unbiased, view of haejin and I think it deserves more.
