E-Flat Jazz Comping.

in #guitar-trails8 years ago (edited)

Hi, Steemit jazz lovers! I'm going to move on from the peoples key of C-Major and spend a few weeks on C-Minor and E-Flat Major. In this one I play i-iv-ii-v (E-flat, A-flat, F-minor7 flat 5 and B-flat7). I start in the first position and move through all the other positions on the neck.

In the solo I start one position above the comp position and move up one position at a time along with the comping.  I mainly use diatonics in this one experimenting with different rhythmic feels. I also use string skipping and some legato with some intentional outside notes thrown in to show how one can kind of make them work (they need to be in passing).
