A massive shout out to the BeyondBitcoin community & @officialfuzzy for providing the Gridcoin community a room in their mumble server for free, and to @cm-steem for being such a wonderful host! :D
What is Gridcoin?
Gridcoin securely rewards BOINC computation on top of Proof of Stake. Reward allocation is distributed, not centralized unlike other distributed computing related cryptocurrencies.

Why are we holding these hangouts?
- A mumble conference call can provide significant advantages over communicating via forums and IRC.
- To create opportunities to inform the public of new Gridcoin, BOINC and related services & their development progress.
- To bridge relations between the cryptocurrency & BOINC communities.
How long will the hangout last?
Anywhere from 45 minutes to 4 and a half hours!
When the Gridcoin Community Hangouts start really picking up traction we can become more strict with allocated speaking time if need be (so you're not waiting hours to talk).

Reply with your suggestions in this Steemit post & order of discussion will be from highest to lowest voted suggestions.
Can we discuss anything?
It's advisable to stay generally on topic, attendees are distributed around the world so they may not (likely won't) share the same views regarding controversial topics not related to Gridcoin/BOINC/Cryptocurrency.
That said, this 'on topic' guideline fizzles away once official recording has ended & the hangout becomes a more relaxed environment.

Step 4: Join the Gridcoin channel!
Step 5: Configure your audio wizard & setup Push-To-Talk. Join 10-15 mins before the hangout starts to test your audio configuration.
Everyone is encouraged to join, especially those who suggest topics of discussion in this thread.

Thank you for the suggestions, and I'm sure he'll drop by if he has time.. but he's passed the duty onto myself and any other ops willing to help moderate/discuss topics. I'm definitely going to have to read up on the staking mechanisms and things if I hope to be as deft as @cm-steem at discussing some of the material, but I like a challenge.
I'm pretty excited about the future of Gridcoin, and the hangouts.. but we need a bit more community participation in this regard. Attendance is usually around 20 people, and that's just weird for having close to 500 users in some channels...

What is the reason for using the old, outdated Mumble over the modern, polished, free Discord ?
mumble is free... and people think discord is an eyesore. also harder to record... it relies on a bot. i'm not against it, but it's fun to happen upon other chats going on in the mumble and join in. we won't have that luxury on discord. practically nobody uses our discord right now. me, gunde, phay, openflames, and moises. that's about it for the past month. lol. if it wasn't already so hard to get a crowd going, i might be down... mostly because they have a verification process on discord, and that would help prevent spammers.
also also, we were talking about adding speechlogger or some other program fed by google asr to piggyback on mumble, to transcribe everything we are saying... not sure if the discord developers would be as welcoming as the mumble devs. that's just from a quick look though.
