Handiwork and grander work

There are times when the handiworks of mankind can almost rival the grand and divine work of nature – or, at least, enhance the creations of nature. Admittedly, those times are few and far between, but as this photo shows, it can be done even with only a few simple structures and some appropriate lighting. 

Grand views

This “Nimman Hill”  is not a hill, but simply the top of a mall in the Nimman district of Chiang Mai. But for all intents and purposes, the rooftop serves as a manmade hill, giving viewers a grand view of the Chiang Mai skyline to the east, and Doi Suthep mountain to the west.   

This is a view to the east. While the early evening sky is still blue, both the sky and the clouds are getting darker. But the lights on the viewing platform shine softly and warmly, ensuring a pleasant evening ahead.  Location – Chiang Mai, on Google Maps
