Move Update (American in Germany)

Hey everybody! Please welcome me back to the internet, we finally got our internet turned on at our new house and I am happy to say we are settling in. Sunday was our first night here, and it was not easy on the kids. They were missing the old house but I think now they understand that they are safe here and seem happy.

-Germans, always so serious

So a little about the move. Saturday we planned to be finished, but the thing is we really didn’t have any furniture or anything here (we were using my mother in laws) since we left it all in the U.S. That meant we had to buy everything. Which also meant 9.5 hours in IKEA for my wife, and a horse trailer load of furniture to build. Instead of people helping us move on Saturday, we asked them to help us build all our new furniture. They kicked butt! We are still not 100% finished and have a bit to do yet at the old house, but things are slowly returning to normal.

The nice thing about spending all that time with my German helpers, was learning a little bit more German. They taught me this (apparently I was sweating a lot?)

Down below is a picture of my favorite new piece of furniture. Of course this did not come from IKEA, this is a really old antique bar. It is hand caved and even has some old wooden screws in it. I was fortunate to pick this up cheap because a local antique dealer recently died and his sister was in a hurry to sell all of his old stuff! My wife hated it at first because it doesn’t fit all the other modern furniture but now I think she really likes it.

Of course they had to have a little fun in between all the hard work!
