GOD'S EXPECTATION 1
1 NOW LET ME SING TO MY WELL-BELOVED A SONG OF MY BELOVED REGARDING HIS VINEYARD: My Well-beloved has a vineyard On a very fruitful hill.
2 He dug it up and cleared out its stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst, And also made a winepress in it; SO HE EXPECTED IT TO BRING FORTH GOOD GRAPES, BUT IT BROUGHT FORTH WILD GRAPES."
Isaiah 5:1,2 (NKJV)
"YOU DID NOT CHOOSE ME, BUT I CHOSE YOU AND APPOINTED YOU THAT YOU SHOULD GO AND BEAR FRUIT, AND THAT YOUR FRUIT SHOULD REMAIN, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."
John 15:16 (NKJV)
• Whatever God did in your life, He has an expectation for it.
- When God blesses you, He does it with an expectation, a purpose in view.
- If you had the privilege to receive a training; acquired a knowledge, received an understanding, or you are gifted, such is done for you or given to you with an expectation.
- If God has deposited Grace in you, given you ability to do something well, He has done it that you might use it for His intended purpose (Isaiah 5:1,2).
• God will call or ask for what He has deposited in you.
- If God gave you the understanding of His Word, He has done it for a purpose as earlier said, He would call on you at the appropriate time, to use that understanding, what you know, that which you have gained through the understanding of His Word, to bless others in order to fulfil a purpose.
- The story of well-beloved in our text, the passage of the Bible in the Book of Isaiah, is all about God's relationship with His people, the nation of Israel. He expected them to bring forth good grapes, but they disappointed Him, they brought forth wild grapes.
- As God did expect fruitfulness, bringing forth of good grapes from the nation of Israel; He likewise does expect fruitfulness, fruit bearing, from every believer in Christ Jesus (John 15:16).
- If God had made a deposit of grace in you, He expected you to bear fruit with the Grace. In other words, If a gift or an ability to do something well is given to you, God expected you to bring forth fruit with the gift or ability—whatever you are given the privilege to know to do well, you are to make profit with It (1 Corinthians 12:7). To make a profit with it means to bless other people with it (Romans 12:6).
- If you had the opportunity or privilege to learn and know some things, you have a responsibility to use that which you know, your skill or gift, to bless others. You have to use it to contribute to the development or building of the Kingdom of God on earth.
• Know that whatever you have is given to you by grace, not through your ability or cleverness: "FOR what gives you the right to make such a judgment? WHAT DO YOU HAVE THAT GOD HASN'T GIVEN YOU? AND IF EVERYTHING YOU HAVE IS FROM GOD, WHY BOAST AS THOUGH IT WERE NOT A GIFT?" (1 Corinthians 4:7 NLT).
- You are given whatever it is, to help in the building or development of God's Kingdom:
a. God will tell you what to do with the ability given to you.
b. God knows where He wants you to use the gift—where you can function and perform well.
c. He knows where there is a need in His Body, and where the gift or ability He deposited in you would best serve the purpose—appropriate for the work there. - This is the reason why ministry cannot be defined for God, whatever God assigned you to do had to be done; knowing the fact that He is aware of what you have in you.
- Thus, something is expected from you because of the grace; gift or ability, given to you, you cannot afford to receive the grace in vain (2 Corinthians 6:1).
- You have to cooperate with God in order to bring forth with the gift or ability or whatever you are given to trade with, bless others with, and make profit (Matthew 25:15-17).
- Thus, let the purpose which God designed you for be fulfilled by submitting and cooperating with Him—His plans and programmes for your life.
• When God expected you to bring forth good grapes but you are bringing forth wild grapes.
- A believer who is bringing forth good grapes is the one who cooperates with God, to bless other people and expand His Kingdom on the earth. Whilst someone, a believer, who is bringing forth wild grapes is the one who uses his or her gift or ability, or the grace, given to them to do contrary to God's intended purpose or plan.
- Now, the question is, What kind of grapes are you bringing forth, good or wild?
a. You would need to check your life If you are actually doing what He did package you to do.
b. You also would need to check If you are at the right place that God wanted you to be and with the people He wanted you to be. - It is important to know this fact that your labour might not be in vain:
1 THEN AFTER FOURTEEN YEARS I [Paul] WENT UP AGAIN TO JERUSALEM WITH BARNABAS, AND ALSO TOOK TITUS WITH ME. 2 AND I WENT UP BY REVELATION, AND COMMUNICATED TO THEM THAT GOSPEL WHICH I PREACH AMONG THE GENTILES, BUT PRIVATELY TO THOSE WHO WERE OF REPUTATION, LEST BY ANY MEANS I MIGHT RUN, OR HAD RUN, IN VAIN" (Galatians 2:1,2 NKJV). - If Apostle Paul had the fear that he could run in vain on the ministry work which he was doing—his teachings and ministry work—and had to fact-check it with those who are ahead of Him in the work. You also would do well to fact-check what you are doing If it was in line with God's intended purpose and plan or not.
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- Should there be any ailment in your body, receive your healing now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
- The hold of the enemy, the devil, is completely broken in your life and It will never come up again in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Peace!
