Sketch / Boceto

We started the sketch of the character, using geometric figures such as triangles, rectangles and circles to achieve an approximation in the morphology of the horse, and placing some details, which will help us to better determine the general characteristics of the horse.

Iniciamos el boceto del personaje, usamos figuras geométricas como triángulos, rectángulos y círculos para lograr una aproximación en la morfología del caballo, y colocando algunos detalles, que nos ayudara a determinar mejor las características generales del mismo.

Outlined / Delineado

Now we move on to the refinement of the lines, here I make a clean drawing which will serve as a basis for applying the color of the next step. With the pencil brush I am modifying the pressure of the line, to obtain lines with different thickness.

Ahora pasamos al refinado de las líneas, acá realizo un dibujo limpio el cual me servirá como base para aplicar el color del siguiente paso. Con el pincel lápiz voy modificando la presión del trazo, para obtener líneas con diferente grosor.

Colour / Color

One of the steps that I like to do the most is the coloring, as you know I use the marker brush for this purpose, but you could also use the filler tool, although I think that by using it you lose a little the connection you create with the drawing, I use soft shades as a base to then apply the shadows and glows in different layers.

Uno de los pasos que más me gusta realizar es el coloreado, como ya saben uso el pincel rotulador para tal fin, pero también podrían usar la herramienta de relleno, aunque pienso que al usarla se pierde un poco la conexión que creas con el dibujo, uso matices suaves como base para luego aplicar las sombras y brillos en diferentes capas.

Shadows / Sombras

I proceed to take the color of the area where I am going to darken, under its brightness, I increase a little the saturation and with the help of the airbrush I apply these shades.

Procedo a tomar el color de la zona donde voy a oscurecer, bajo su brillo, aumento un poco la saturación y con ayuda del pincel aerógrafo aplico dichas sombras.

Lights / Luces

For the glows we apply the same technique we use for the shadows, we copy the base color to be illuminated, and modify it in the color palette, but this time we lower the saturation a little and increase the brightness, to finally apply it with the airbrush.

Para los brillos aplicamos la misma técnica que usamos para las sombras, copiamos el color base a iluminar, y modificamos en la paleta de colores, pero esta vez bajamos un poco la saturación y aumentamos el brillo, para finalmente aplicarlo con el pincel aerógrafo.

Background / Fondo

For the background I wanted to recreate the valley where the hidden tower of Rapunzel is located. I used the watercolor brush and in layers I created each element, the bushes, sky, tower and other elements that accompany the scene. To achieve a distant effect I applied a slight blur.

Para el fondo quise recrear el valle donde se encuentra la torre escondida de Rapunzel. Use el pincel acuarela y por capas fui creando cada elemento, los arbustos, cielo, torre y demás elementos que acompaña el escenario. Para lograr un efecto de lejanía aplique un leve difuminado.

Details / Detalles

To finish the drawing we designed some details, added textures to the saddle and the sword, drew the reins and placed a flash of light on the tip of the sword.

Para finalizar el dibujo diseñamos algunos detalles, agregamos texturas a la silla de montar y a la espada, dibujamos las riendas y colocamos un destello de luz en la punta de la espada.
