Heck yeah prof! That's some industrial level mulch harvest, good job! \n\nOur neighbors gather leaves for us and we pick em up before the garbage men get to it on trash day.

Having the neighbors do the work is even better than having a machine do it. I will probably have to spend another full day on leaves before the end of the season.

I'll be harvesting as long as they'll keep raking :) next trash day is Monday, that's when I collect. This past week we had a cold snap that made all the mulberry trees in the neighborhood drop every leaf they had in the course of about three days. Yards were completely covered on Wednesday, so this'll be a good harvest week :) mulberry leaves crunch up real good too. We'll start some big time leaf mold work next week.

I know a gardener who wanted more leaf mulch so be invited the town to unload their vacuum truck in his yard. The pile was so big that it heated up when it started composting and caught on fire. He had to dig into it and soak it with a hose to keep it under control.

I need to get a better collection system for my leaves. This year, I used the electric lawnmower with the bag, but it takes about 30 seconds for the bag to get full, so that got old pretty fast. I keep saying that I'm going to get a shredder, but I never seem to have the money for it...

The previous owners of our house obviously tried lots of methods for collecting leaves; they left all the equipment for us when they moved out.

There is an electric leaf blower that works OK, but it has a cord so you are always tethered. It also has a suction/bagging attachment which fills up too quickly to be useful.

The bagger attachment for the riding mower is pretty good if there are only a few leaves on the grass. It doesn't have the capacity for the main leaf drop of the fall.

I would have a hard time paying $1000 for a leaf vac, but it sure is handy. I can make a mountain of mulch with it in an afternoon.

One time I planted some wheat and harvested it by hand with a scythe just to see if I could. The leaf vacuum did a good job of threshing for me. It was a good experiment that I might repeat some day.
