WHOOPS!!!! I mean Some POTS!!!! - THE POTS - Okay, the CONTAINERS that I planted with succulents out on my patio!!

Oh yes, I'm sure everyone has been wondering "Gee, I wonder how gardenlady's succulents did over the summer? let's see, she showed us how to plant them up back in May, and then she said she would ignore them all summer. This will be SO interesting to see the Before and After!"

Well, I aim to please!

Let's just say that thanks to just a bit of regular watering in June, and then a mercifully wet (enough) summer while I was away, combined with the pots not placed in direct sun and the fact they they were mostly succulents...voila! These plants are still going strong.

Usually by mid-August I've got some real crispy-fried brown annuals - too brown to even ask to be watered. But not the succulents! What's a succulent, you say? A succulent usually has fleshy leaves, think cactus.

Okay, so here we go with some Befores and Afters

BEFORE: (in May) cute little guy that got planted in a pot just for him

AFTER: He had babies! I guess 'he' is a 'she'!

and 'he' had a gorgeous flower!

BEFORE: A "melange" of succulents plus a little purple annual (adjeratum)

AFTER: I got some legs!

BEFORE: Another melange of succulents plus some wooly thyme

AFTER: They all had babies and/or got leggy! I have to say that the thyme just got kind of dull and shaggy (note to self for next summer - no thyme)

SO...succulents, THUMBS UP? Definitely.

And for anyone wondering the process for planting these little guys, look no further:

And as always, got a garden question? Just ask @gardenlady

(all photos from my iphone 6+. Before photos were from May. Afters were from today)

And, if anyone is still reading...why oh why didn't the 1st photo show up on the blog icon? That's the second time in a couple weeks :-(

So gorgeous. Very interesting to show before and after! I love to do the same thing. Before and after pics on your plants remind you it is well worth the effort you put into planting them!

These look so beautiful

:-) thanks! All I did was ignore it all summer!

You definitely got the green thumb. I don't even have a green pinkie.
