The Tale of a Bad Gardener

It doesn't rain in Southern California. Well, at least it doesn't in the Summer. Hardly ever.

My point is, that plants need to be watered. Or they die.

This summer, I was a very, very bad gardener. My intentions were to install a good drip system all around.

And I didn't. Maybe because I have tried several different methods and none worked. I am bit hesitant.

But, I hate hand watering. A lot!!

So, my garden is looking sad. But apparently, is also very forgiving. Very few things have died. Thank you sweet plants for hanging in there with me until I get my garden mojo back. And thanks to my husband who has kept the fruit trees alive!

Today, I got some garden energy and cleaned up a bunch of sunflowers who had bloomed, fed the birds and died. That is okay, they are supposed to.

My Meyer Lemon got some mulch and I realized that the darn ants have been keeping lots of scale on it and it has suffered. Tomorrow, I have to hose and scrub them to help out that poor thing.

But this is what I want to show you. Right next to it is a Freedom blackberry growing and it is giving me some fruit! check out this baby!
