Garage Rock from The Things - I Don't Believe It. Get up and Dance!

in garagerock •  20 days ago

Here's a 60s song that follows the classic Garage Rock pattern - guitar and organ pumping out 4-chord dance music!

I don't know anything about The Things. Are they the same band I wrote about in

I have no idea, but they do sound similar in the instruments and vocals.

The song starts with a rocking drum beat and some guitar flourishes. The first verse starts over just the drums, but then the guitar and organ kick in, and we have a nice break in the middle with the organ most prominent along with the guitar more in the back.

What's happening in the lyrics? Similar to many Garage Rock songs, the guy is having some issues with his bad girl. He can't believe her!

You say you love me; I don't believe it. You say you need me; I don't believe it. You say that you always, you'll be mine. How do I know you're telling the truth this time?

You say you never think of leavin', but you're the one that is deceivin', and now you left me, you said goodbye. Now all I do, I sit at home and cry.

Oh why do I love you the way that I do, and why do you tell me things that aren't true? OH!

Organ and guitar break

You say you need me; I don't believe it. You say you want me; I don't believe it.

And now you've left me! I don't believe it! And you said goodbye! I don't believe it! Well now all I do. I don't believe it! I sit at home and cry! I don't believe it! I can't believe you left; you left me on my own!

Fade out into sad desperation. Poor guy.

Sad outcome, but still you can get up and dance with your phone opened to the @actifit app and get some groovy exercise! Try it! Try it right now! :)
