A long, difficult journey ensues, with Aarbron being forced to fight through the hostile terrain and Maletoth's power. He finally faces one of Maletoth's maids, a giant creature whose only visible parts of his body are his hands and feet. Defeating the creature, Aarbron is released from his curse, the unknown "Shadow of the Beast", and returns to a more humanoid form.
