9.13.18 Nintendo Direct news highlights - some huge announcements!
Yesterday we were treated to the biggest dump of Nintendo news since E3. Some surprises, some things we already knew about and more. Let's dig into the news:
Luigi's Mansion 3 reveal

The GameCube launch game receives its first console sequel! While there was one released on the 3DS, this is what we really wanted! Coming in 2019.
Yoshi's Crafted World reveal

The upcoming Yoshi game finally has a name! With a Spring 2019 release date, the game is looking really sharp. As a big fan of Yoshi's Wooly World on the Wii U, this is one we're looking forward to.
An AVALANCHE of Final Fantasy titles!

Square Enix isn't messing around! In 2019, we're not only getting updated versions of Crystal Chronicles and Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon, but two additional new titles in Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD and World of Final Fantasy Maxima. The icing on the cake is four core titles are getting HD re-releases on the Switch! Final Fantasy VII, XI, X, X-2 and XII are all getting releases!
Animal Crossing tease

FINALLY! A heavily requested series that skipped the Wii U (we're not talking about that board game abomination...that never happened.) Animal Crossing was announced, but no footage or information is available yet.
Katamari Damacy Reroll announcement

The PS2 original is getting a HD remaster, with new features for the Switch like gyro control using both JoyCons independently, which should be a great addition for those who like to tinker with that stuff. I loved the original, so I'll likely revisit this classic when it releases later this year.

Really excited to see a remaster of Katamari Damacy! One of my favorite off the wall titles on the PS2. But the real kicker is Luigi's Mansion 3!!
I was always a bit disappointed that the second one only came to the 3DS, especially since it was such a great entry in the series. I would have loved to play it on a big screen. And now we'll be able to! :)
