Gaming Retrospective - Warhammer 40,000: Final Liberation
Final Liberation is another one of Warhammer40k greater than life turn based strategy games. Game was released in 1997 and was developed by Holistic Design. It wasn't one of the best looking games, but if you're a fan of WH40k that wasn't an issue. In this depiction of WH40k clearly influenced by the popular tabletop game, we play as Imperium of Man against the Ork WAAAAGH. The main goal in this game is to eradicate the Orks on the planet Volistad, and to do that you will fight trough series of missions and use huge machines of war.
You can imagine the gameplay as a turn based Heroes of Might and Magic style of a game with Warhammer40k rules, units and bigger maps, just switch your Angels with Imperial class Titans and you're there. Those huge units can gain experience and with each coming battle will become stronger than their basic inexperienced counterparts. Campaign was played from Imperium perspective and Orks were playable in skirmish mode. This was one of the first turn based WH40k games where you could experience the full scope of the imagination that insanely creative universe has.
