Frostpunk Review

Every once in a while there comes a time when a game is released where, to be honest, you don't expect to see greatness. Frostpunk is one of those rare gems that will surprise you with it's deep gameplay that will punish your mistakes and that will reward your good moves. This game can push you beyond your limits in understanding the game's mechanics, and the result that comes from all that is a city building strategy game with mechanics never seen before.
The world of Frostpunk is harsh and unforgiving, the humanity was suddenly struck by the new ice age and you as a player will be in charge of creating one of the last humanity's outposts into a livable and thriving city, a last beacon of hope for people without hope.

There are not too many tools at your disposal once you find the huge generator that heats everything around it. In order to run it you will need coal, to gather coal you need workers that get sick very fast, once the coal runs out, you need to build coal thumpers, in order to build those you need wood and steel, you get the gist of it, resource management is the key of winning in this game, balancing between sick people, heat, food, coal, wood, steel and steam cores is not an easy task.

The core of the game are the people, your most precious resource, if you don't feed them and build hospitals to heal them, or if you don't build some leisure buildings discontent will rise and they will banish their great leader from the city. You can bring harsh laws that will keep the order high or you can create a religion to keep the people in check.
You will need to bring some despicable laws in order to survive, few examples are the child workers, saw dust food rations, hospitals that will "heal" people by amputating their limbs, but that is okay, you can later build prosthetics for their limbs, the end justify the means as they say.

Upgrades are also a big part of the game where you need to unlock new buildings, heat levels, set up explorers and outposts for that extra resource boost you sorely need. Everything is connected, if you miss manage only one resource your economy will stop functioning, hope will fall and discontent will rise. One game session can last many hours so be prepared for that. If you manage to win one of the scenarios you did good, a true great leader you. My only gripe with the game is the lack of content, but after the success this game is having, I have a feeling the devs will upgrade on it. Check it out if you like city building games like SimCity, Anno and Tropico. Score 88/100

C'mon man you stole my idea xD Just kidding, relax haha But, I'm playing this game from yesterday, and I'm kinda hooked on :D It's really cool idea, living in the crater and sending scouts to find others and materials.

For now, I like it. I found out it gets a lot colder after 15ish days, so care, build up that generator, or build those small towers that heat your town - I'm currently experimenting with those bad boys :D

Thanks for the share, I hope you enjoy it as I do... Much love, Luka.

Well, people like this game a lot, it is natural to see tons of reviews about the game :) Last night with the help of @cutwitviky I managed to beat the first scenario, the ending was very chilly to say the least. Unfortunately there are only 3 scenarios all together.

I'm still trying to beat that first one, I only tried the second one. But, the first one is really chilly :D Need to warm up the people ASAP :D

My mate has this and loves it, it looks great. In the coming weeks I might have to grab it!

Absolutely worth it.

I knew that you gonna write about this game :D tbh i tried Tropico and i dont like these resources management games, but that is just me

Yeah, I love city building games. This one is fairly unique and it stands out from the rest, probably a good retry of the genre if you go for it :)

We have survived barely last night haha

The new faith is approved no more hope Veliki vođa rules:D

Awesome and wow, i also like deep story games and empire building is more interesting to play but i really like to play shooting and open world games and my favourite are, Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, and i wanted to play GTA 5 and purchased the game but unfortunately it didn't worked in my system due to low end specs. Thanks for sharing and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
