Disney Shuts Down Marvel Heroes Omega

This news were in the air when Gazillion stopped giving updates on the development of the game for 3 weeks, everyone felt some kind of end is coming and a 5 year run of Marvel Heroes has come to an end. Game had crazy patch deadlines and 80h work weeks, it was a tough job to do, it all crumbled in the end. This year there were three rounds of layoffs in the company, a sure sign something is not right. After Kotaku article we finally got an official statement from Gazillion:

We’re sad to inform our players and our entire Marvel Heroes family that Marvel Heroes Omega will be shutting down. The Marvel Heroes servers will stay on until Dec 31, 2017, and we’ll be removing real money purchases as soon as possible. Players will be able to play the game entirely for free once this sunset period commences. We will share the exact date things go completely free as soon as we can.

We’ve had the privilege of entertaining and collaborating with our players for over four years. We’re extremely humbled by that privilege and wanted to get this message out: Thank you. Thank you to our players, our tireless employees, and everyone involved in the life of Marvel Heroes, Marvel Heroes 2015, Marvel Heroes 2016, and Marvel Heroes Omega.

This was a special kind of game for me that I played for 5 years, I've been through so many changes and stayed until the end. I actually sold one of my accounts and bought my first 0.5 bitcoin 2 years ago with that money. I could honestly say, If there weren't for this game who knows would I ever enter into whole crypto space and started blogging about gaming here on steemit. All I can say if you missed this game, for me who enjoys gaming for so many years now, this was a great game with an awesome community and very passionate developer team. In the end the burnout and 5 year old base game was their end. Game is still live, you can download it and play while the servers are still on until december 31st. Also to add, everything in the game has become free, literally what was worth 5k dollars now you can enjoy for free for the next 45 days. If you miss this you will miss a big part of MMO ARPG history.
