Game Teaser
According to game teaser Mr Buck Crosshaw never shot a man who did’t deserve it, but now he’s an outlaw who had to fake his own death and escape to Arizona. But in escaping one evil, Buck is about to face another, for an ancient and wicked force stirs in the hills of this mysterious region.
Gameplay
Six guns is more like cow boy game, those like cowboy movie will love to play this game more, the gameplay boiled down to a good set of missions I had to complete. Six-Guns (from prolific Android studio Gameloft) is dusty, horse-laden and backstory-less dive into the Wild, Wild, West. Mr Crosshaw will manned a grim, and also use the short tutorial to learn how to fight, and get a cheapie gun to start the game. I also got a horse.
Now the gameplay was fairly inventive. In the opening scene, I saved a buxom maiden, and went on to save a nearby town from some bandits, and moved on to prevent a war by protecting a sacred tree from being destroyed. Even jailbreaks made an appearance. There was more noble stuff, and even horse racing.
I thought the missions were very creative, as they incorporated gaming staples and cushioned them with western-theme concepts that mostly made sense. Now, the undead did throw me, but I didn’t ask questions, I just dispatched them.
The horse and weapons were upgradeable. This was done via game cash (accrued by completing missions) or real money. While making progress through the former was indeed possible, it did bog down at times. Still, with replayable levels, playing it without real cash wasn’t unbearable. Six-Guns: Gang Showdown is a wild west shooting game that takes place in an open world. Wander around for a few minutes, and you'll be challenged in various ways by a buxom blond who serves as your guide.
The first few missions are simple enough, and designed to get to grips with the controls and gameplay. As you succeed in Six-Guns, you'll gain experience, gold and guns. As with many games of its type, it will take a lot of effort to earn enough money to buy the cool stuff, but don't despair, as there's an in-game purchase system. During game play if you really like the game and want to support Gameloft, I recommend buying a little gold or a permanent health upgrade since those are priced somewhat fairly. But the cool thing about free to play is that people who don’t like the game or its IAP prices don’t need to drop a cent on it.
What Six-Guns lacks in narrative, it makes up for in sheer abundance of missions. The game’s two large maps are dotted with glowing hotspots that trigger these missions.
Missions Expected To Be Carried Out Successfully Are As Follows :
Defense: Guard a location against oncoming enemies either for a set time or a specific number of waves of enemies.
Offense: Take out all of the enemies in a location. Racing: There are actually two types of horse races. The first, and most fun simply pits the player against three AI racers. These racers work well when you don’t feel like engaging in combat. The second requires players to shoot a certain number of targets while also passing through checkpoints within a time limit. Unfortunately, the aiming is so bad (which we’ll get to in a bit) that it makes hitting the targets under time pressure a complete chore.
Sniping: Requires a sniper rifle, of which there is only one non-premium option. Watch a spot and wait for a courier to deliver goods to the smuggler hiding behind a wall. Because of the bad aiming and super low windows of opportunity to hit the target(s), the sniping mission is ridiculously hard.
Crypt killing: For some reason, Six-Guns has a lot of supernatural enemies like werewolves, From Dusk Till Dawn-style monstrous vampires, and flying witches. In this mission type, you’ll navigate a maze-like crypt and defeat all of its unholy inhabitants along the way. I actually enjoy the mash-up of Wild West and monsters, but the witches have an obnoxious habit of getting stuck inside of walls, often making them unkillable and forcing a mission failure.
Rescue: These some in two varieties. In the more interesting one, players must locate and then escort one or more maidens safely out of a vampire’s crypt. Shooting gallery: Fun but hard due to aiming issues.
Other Things Expected Of You During Game Play Are;
Unlock 8 different horses, 19 weapons and a vast selection of clothes and other items, 40 varied missions: Race horses, stop robbers, shoot targets, take back the fort and more!
Fight looting bandits, bloodthirsty vampires, cunning witches and many other supernatural foes.
Music and Sounds
Six-Guns: Gang Showdown is pretty impressive. The graphics, although not quite as amazing as games like GT Racing: Motor Academy, for example, are pretty good and look great on android. The sounds are convincing and, in all, it's a pretty great offering for a free game.
Controls
Despite the tutorial-missions some folks may still find it totally difficult to control, but if you have wirless android joystick pad I will say you are good to go. It wasn't immediately obvious how to work the fight dial, and took a little while to figure out how to swap from fighting and vice-versa. After a while Six-Guns seems quite natural, easy and fun to play - even when you're riding a horse, which some may difficult in these game. Six-Guns generally controls intuitively, just like any FPS(first person shooting) game. You walk with a virtual stick, use a fire button to shoot, an aim button for fine aiming, and a roll button for dodging.
Tapping the gun icon at the top of the screen reloads, while swiping it changes guns. The top corner button for map and location, being a western-themed game, the hero can also ride horses, all you have to do is tap press the horse button to whistle for your horse and instantly mount it. Riding gets you everywhere faster and you don’t even have to worry about being thrown to your death like in real life. While the general controls all work well, aiming is problematic. Much of the time, you’ll get by with the lock-on assist. Once you’ve locked on to an enemy, you can just plug away at them unless the lock gets broken. But fine aiming is simply horrendous. The reticle just moves way too far no matter how lightly you slide your finger.
Graphics
I liked the graphics and animations, all the way from the galloping house to the glare of the evening-time lanterns outside secretive shacks. The colors blended in very well, and I was drawn by representation of scorching sun and almost felt the dust in my eyelids.
Animations and cutscenes were very well rendered, gameplay is exciting and it will keep you busy for quite a while, even without having to recourse to in-app purchases. I think that Six-Guns is the perfect app for extended play, and can really imagine sitting down to the game for a good few hours which is quite missing on most FPS games. The digital art designer must have put a lot of sleepless night before getting this wonderful job done.
Multiplayer
Six-Guns’ have online multiplayer mode which is mostly affected by thoseIAPs(In App Purchases). The good part is that guns and clothing the player purchases in single-player (premium or not) can be used in multiplayer mode also. Buy good equipment and you’ll tear through players with lesser stuff. Obviously the publisher’s hope is that players will spend money to gain a competitive advantage, but that’s bad game design. Still, multiplayer is pretty fun as long as you don’t run across somebody with a very good weapon or else you will end up loosing. Multiplayer only offers one game type - capture the flag, and only two maps, which make it feels vigor. The less severe bug involves weapon selection. For some reason, you can only select between a couple of the guns in your inventory during multiplayer. To switch to any other weapon, you’ll need to open the store and equip the gun from there.

Conclusion
If you have always fancied yourself as a gun slinger, you'd be mad not to check out Six-Guns. Amazingly, this detailed, complex first person shooter is free to download and play - you just need a powerful device and plenty of time. The game (and the extra data you may need to download to play), takes a while to download and install, but once you're done, you're free to experience all Six-Guns has to offer. Starting with the mind blowing graphics and adaptable control.
