Hi everyone hope you're doing well, welcome to my review! Today I'll be talking about the Disney Afternoon Collection. This is a collection of old Capcom games, based on Disney properties from the 80's and 90's. I know when I was a kid after school I would play a lot of these games and I had a blast with them, but since then I have all but forgotten about most of these. That is until I saw this game collection for sale on the Playstation store. It only costs $19.99 and you get six games, all with new features that make playing through them a little more forgiving, some of these are quite difficult at times. Each game lets you not only save your progress, but you can also rewind time if you make a mistake as often as you want. So let's get into it and talk a little bit about each one.

DUCKTALES 1

The Ducktales games are definitely my personal favorites, and the ones I played most as a kid. You play as Uncle Scrooge McDuck as you travel to many different locations trying to find valuable artifacts for your massive collection of treasure. Along the way you will get help from the younger ducks Huey, Louie, Dewey, and Webby, as well as Launchpad and Gizmoduck. This is one of the best platformers ever made in my opinion. As far as the gameplay goes, you basically pogo around on Scrooge's cane bouncing on enemies to kill them. That's pretty much it, even the bosses are taken out by enough cane bounces to the head. But there's a surprising amount of depth and challenge even with such a limited amount of gameplay mechanics. It has secret areas and different routes you can take, as well as hidden items all over the place. This really encourages you to explore every nook and cranny of the game.

DUCKTALES 2

Ducktales 2 is a game that not many people even know about. Even me, being a huge fan of the original, have never played this one until now. The reason for that is, this game came out in 1993 and by that time the Super Nintendo had been out for two years already. So most people missed out on this NES gem unfortunately. It's pretty much the same idea as the first one, just with even more emphasis on exploration. There are more secret areas and different routes to take, as well as a secret ending that you can get by collecting all the missing map pieces. Both Ducktales games are incredibly fun and have delightful 8-bit soundtracks to go with them.

DARKWING DUCK

Darkwing Duck is another game that I have never played before, I'm not sure why. I have to admit though, after playing this one here on the collection, it's definitely the worst one of the bunch. It's kind of like a Mega Man game, except instead of cool intricate level design and a variety of different weapons to try out, you get the same boring blaster the whole game. The levels can be very annoying at times, and even the ability to rewind time doesn't save this game from being a chore to get though. I loved the Darkwing Duck cartoon as a kid, but this game doesn't do it justice.

CHIP N DALE RESCUE RANGERS

Ok, this game is one that I remember playing a lot as a kid. It's one of the first games that I ever got to play that had a two player function. My brother and I would play Chip N Dale together all the time and we had a blast. Unlike Ducktales there's really no exploration or secrets to find, but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of it. It's your basic platformer with the ability to pick up boxes and either hide in them, or throw them at enemies. It's quite simple but very fun, so if you have someone to play with you can play together through the whole thing. Or if you're by yourself, it's just as good honestly, definitely one of the best ones in the collection.

CHIP N DALE RESCUE RANGERS 2

Rescue Rangers 2 is another game that most people have never played before. Just like Ducktales 2, this game came out long after people stopped caring about the NES and had moved on to Super Nintendo. It came out in 1994 and didn't do very well in sales. It's pretty much the same thing as the original in terms of gameplay, you can play through the entire thing in 2 player if you want. Both Rescue Rangers games gives control of the rewind function to the first player, adding an extra level of fun messing with your friend and rewinding time on them.

TALESPIN

Finally we have Talespin the hardest game in the bunch by far, I was never able to beat this one as a kid. In Talespin you play as Baloo the Bear and you fly a seaplane around shooting enemies the whole game. You have the ability to turn around and change direction any time you want, so if you missed something you can go back and get it. There are a lot of enemies in this one and the bosses can be a real pain in the butt. After each level you can take the money you've gained from collecting things and buy upgrades for your plane with it. This does make it a little bit easier but it's still very difficult. I'm happy to say though, with the rewind feature that the collection gives you, I was finally able to beat Talespin for the first time.

The final verdict on this collection is pretty easy to come to. It's a no brainer really, six awesome games for $20 with new features is definitely worth it. I mean just on nostalgia alone it was worth it for me to go back and play though some of these. If you were to try and find all of these games for the NES it would cost you over $100 easy, some of these are very rare and hard to find. So if you played these as a kid like me, or just want to get into some classic NES games, this collection is totally worth it. This is Capcom at it's 8-bit best right here, I give The Disney Afternoon Collection a.................................
