Danmaku: also called "Bullet Hell" or "Manic Shooter", danmaku, a Japanese expression translated as "curtain of bullets", refers to a branch of the shoot'em up with hysterical and nervous atmosphere, using projectiles Enemies in order to generate a greater sense of difficulty. Doujin Game: from the Nippon market, the Doujin Game is a stage of amateur developer working more generally on PC. Not being confined to the shoot'em up, the amateur scene offers some games worthy of a professional production, part of their concepts sometimes innovative and refreshing. Some titles even manage to have this edited by large industrial pumps (Trouble Witches is the perfect example) or even to compete with certain development studios specialized in a particular genre (the series of Touhou which competes largely with a production Cave ). We can also mention: Tobi Tsukihime which takes the characters of Moon-Type coming from the series of Melty Blood.

Extend: Can be considered as a bonus, the extend is not exclusive to this genre, but applies more generally to the majority of arcade games (except baston games). However, the extend is an essential element in the smooth running of a game on a title belonging to the shooting game. An extend is simply an extra life, unlocking when a score level is reached or by fulfilling certain requirements. This life is automatically added to the others and is accompanied, more generally, by a specific sound that specifies its obtaining. The extend can also appear in the middle of the screen and must be recovered by the module to be effective. In this system, it is unfortunately possible to miss this precious life. Finally, the extend is a crucial element in order to achieve the ultimate goal of the 1cc, which means players do not focus only on survival but also, at a minimum, on scoring.
