If you are new to SteemMonsters this post would be a good place to start! If you've been living under a rock Season 4 started Monday night for those of us in the US. I was a little disappointed because I couldn't break the Gold 3 barrier and was hoping to make it to at least Diamond 3.

Season 4

I was worried about the changes that were coming to Steem Monsters. I thought the daily quest rewards have been awesome so far and was wondering when they would be getting nerfed. Then it was announced Beta packs would no longer be given away, but instead a new "Reward Edition" card.

To my surprise, after I completed my daily quest I received a "pack" of Reward Edition Cards. I am super excited about this and I am glad they decided to not limit this to 1 card per daily quest. I understand the reason for switching from Beta packs as people were abusing the rewards using multiple accounts, but glad they decided to keep it a pack instead of just 1 card (check Give Away 3 image for my 1st day of Season 4 rewards).

New abilities were added to the game so it may be worth a look at the how to play section to look over and understand these new abilities. Some of them are divine shied (first time a monster takes damage it is ignored), double strike (straightforward), like leach, silence, strengthen, and swiftness.

The SteemMonsters Shop

I'm not sure if the shop was introduced recently, but they have some cool swag and even a New York Comic Con promo card that can be purchased.

When the price of Steem goes back up this is going to be one fun way I'm going to take some profits. I'm definitely going to buy one promo card and prossibly the hoodie as well.

The Give Away

If you haven't heard of @contestkings you should check them out. They try and encourage great giveaways that don't require likes, follows, or resteems. As such this give away will require none of that either.

The only thing that I will require is you to make a comment down below from 1 - 100. Please do not duplicate numbers. If a number is selected twice, the first person to select that number will be chosen.

How this giveaway will work is that I will select 3 numbers. The closest number, without going over, will get to choose a card from the pack below. The number closest to the first random number will choose 1 card from Giveaway 1, the closest to the second number 1 card from Giveaway 2, and the closest to the third number 1 card from Giveaway 3.

I plan to do this in the future as well and can withhold special cards if I so choose, but that will be a rare exception in these giveaways and not all gold cards will be withheld, meaning that there is a possibility I can be giving away a chance to win a gold card if it is chosen.

Shout Out!

I gave a shout out to @contestkings last week and wanted to highlight PeakMonsters this week. The user interface, in my opinion, is a much cleaner way to view your SteemMonster collection and you can filter between Alpha and Beta cards which is something I complained about last week.

They also have a market place which I'm assuming is using the same data to pull the SteemMonsters marketplace, just displayed differently. I haven't used either market yet to purchase individual cards, but think I'll be using PeakMonsters in the future.

As someone who is thinking about reselling these cards as well, I'm looking forward to the "Analytics" section that is coming soon to help me get a better understanding of the card market. Time will tell if this will be a useful tool or not.

A Draw!

I experienced my first draw in SteemMonsters playing this past week. If you want to watch the game to see how it happened, click on the link below the image.

Basically, it came down to 2 healers that couldn't out damage the healing that was done. The game ended in a stalemate and would have lasted forever if it wouldn't have ended in a draw. This was nothing groundbreaking, but something I had never seen happen in the game before.

Opportunities for Improvements

I always like to leave a little comment on how I think the game can be improved. I'm not ragging on the developers as I could never create something half as good as this, but like to share my thoughts on how the game can be improved.

I'm not sure what % of players play on mobile phones, but it would be nice if the "battle screen" could be optimized for mobile. As you can see some of the icons overlap, which isn't a huge issue, but more of a minor annoyance.
