in #gaming5 years ago

Gamers from across Australia will have the chance to make their voices heard. The inaugural Australian Games Awards (AGAs) has just been announced, giving gamers the opportunity to vote and nominate across 30 different categories.

With categories in areas of games, game development, esports, cosplay, content creation, accessories, and media - the aim of the awards is to "recognise excellence".

"I'm so thrilled to finally reveal the event," said Trade Media Director, Joel Van Daal at the launch of the AGAs.

"This will be the biggest ever celebration of Australian gaming culture, and will give the community the opportunity to have their say. Games are the premier form of entertainment, and we are just pleased to be able to give them the platform it deserves."

With the event being held at Sydney's Luna Park on Wednesday, December 19, the AGAs are not far away. However, nominations are now open and will be open up until midnight AEST on November 19. Voting will open later that week and close in early December.

After the event's organiser, Trade Media, made the announcement yesterday the community was quick to respond. Within 24 hours Mr Van Daal tweeted out that the AGAs had already received 2,200 nominations.
