Bomberman Fantasy Race - Feeling Nostalgic Yet? (Original Content)
What's up guys! It's a new day for nostalgic games and the game we'll be mentioning today is Bomberman Fantasy Race!
If you had a PS X or a PS 1 in the past, we're pretty sure you may have stumbled upon this game. It was pretty popular back then and rightly so.
What is Bomberman Fantasy Race?
It's basically a mixture of bomberman and animals. It's a racing game where you control bomberman who rides either a Tirra or a Louie, and the goal is of course to come up first.
Then again, it won't be as easy as it looks. Everyone has their own weapons especially bombs and you use them to delay other players.
For instance, you can throw a bomb at the other play and if it hits, he will be delayed for a moment. It greatly affects the outcome so it takes a lot of skill to avoid and to aim while riding a bunny.

All animals are not "built" equally. Louie is the bunny-like creature while Tirra looks like a rhino on 2 legs. Tirra is the type that is physically stronger but Louie is a little faster.
Furthermore, there are different types of Louie and Tirra as well. The Black Louie (black in color) is the fastest animal in the game while the King Tirra is the strongest. It's strong in the sense that it's hard to knock down.
Different types of animals
As you can see in the image above, there are 6 types of Louie and 6 types of Tirra.
Green Louie is the first Louie you can use and probably the weakest of all Louies. You'll get the hopping louie, tri louie, soaring louie and so on.
As for Tirra, you start with the Blue Tirra which seems to be the weakest among the Tirras. Each Tirra or Louie have different traits, so it's hard to say that one is the weakest, but we used to assume so because the cost of buying is different.
The goal was to get the King Tirra and the Black Louie as both were pretty expensive. They were also pretty darn strong as well. You have to keep playing to earn coins and unlock more "animals".
What you need to know about the game
- Never trust anyone. Your best friend in the game might sabotage you midway! That's probably because there can only be one winner. Bomberman Fantasy Race is a super fun game when played with friends. Back in the days, the TV screen was smaller and we had to share like half the screen each. It may seem pretty small now, but we didn't realize or care about it in the past.
Multi-tasking is huge. You have to control Louie / Tirra to prevent them from falling down or getting into obstacles. At the same time, you need to be careful of other players (bot or friends) and you'll have to attack them as well. We strongly believe gaming helped us to develop better multi-tasking and also thinking skills in life.
Keep playing to know each corner of the map.
You'll find lots of boosts or obstacles in each racing map, so do remember to collect them. Those bombs may work to your favor or they will completely annoy the hell out of you. This keeps the game fun IMO. It's also harder to control your character at the beach due to the sand and some parts of the map may have traps, so you had to be careful.
It's an awesome multi-player game
Despite the crappy reviews given by IGN and other reviewers (only about 6/10), it's still a super fun game to be played with your family, friends and even relatives. We used to play it a lot with our cousins when they came visiting. That was so many years ago. Kinda miss the old days now..
