Enderal and Skyrim mods

For the past several days I have been playing Enderal and taken the time to explore it. I have made posts about Skyrim and Enderal before, but in short words, it is a Skyrim mod that’s completely independent. It has its own .exe, story, land, etc. It can even seem like a standalone game but it is technically a mod.

Mods are usually created to enhance videogames, the majority are designed to make graphics better, improve elements like how realistic the water looks, the sky, and everything you can think of in term of graphics.

There are more complex mods that can entirely change the looks of the game, for example, there are mods that can turn brown bears into pandas, a pine tree into a palm tree and that sort of things.

However, the best mods are those that add new content in terms of quests to do, land to explore and characters to interact with. This type of mods can be seen as an unofficial and free DLC created by the community instead of the company that developed the video game, which in this case is Bethesda.

What makes Enderal different and exciting, is not only the massive scale of this mod-game, but the fact that instead of being an “addon” to Skyrim, it is a completely different creation. It truly feels as another video game, with the only thing in common with Skyrim being the type of graphics, UI design, and the abundance of bugs ^^.

So far I have enjoyed this game a lot, I don’t think it is superior that Skyrim itself, but I haven’t finished it yet so who knows. Either way, it is amazing to play something that is, in essence, an “Elder Scroll”. Skyrim was released in 2011 and the next one is already announced but there are not even trailers of it yet. So in the meantime, having Enderal is a real treat. Especially because Skyrim is my favorite game of all time.
