Steel Division: Normandy 44 my opinion

Steel Division is a game that differs from the Wargame series. With the cost of diversity of factions and units in the game we get a more complex tactical strategy game where each small unit can have a significant impact on the course of the game.

In this game to destroy the Tiger it is not enough to send spam planes or tanks, but you have to combine enough to shoot the kitten from the side or back properly preparing an ambush - which gives great satisfaction when it succeeds.
Ordinary walkers in this game are not a gang of zombies running where we click, but under the fire of machine guns they fall to the ground and are terrified by the fire. In the overwhelming majority of attacks the enemies surrender, not die to the last... Why every single soldier has a greater value because in this part of the Eugen System strategy it is not possible to renew whole groups of troops with the help of logistic vehicles.

The shape of the terrain is a key element of the game here - with a good layout of the attack in a given terrain we are able to minimize losses or maximize by choosing the wrong way of attack. Any bush, hedge or elevation can give an advantage during ambush or attack.

Another advantage of the game is its dynamism - from a situation in which we completely lose the game in phase A or B in phase C we are able to completely reverse the fate of the match. The "front" system works very well and allows you the freedom to make tactical decisions where you want to conquer territory and where you want to defend yourself. The division into phases A, B and C resembles that of the first Company of Heroes where we gradually get more and more heavy equipment or more experienced units - here the differences between different divisions in the game are well outlined because some are able to settle the match already in phase A and then in phases B and C to be weaker when I have to survive phases A and B to discover the opponent in phase C with doubled strength.

Divisions in the game, here players have the most reasons to complain in comparison to the Wargame series. On the side of the Allies I can choose from 5 countries divided into infantry, armoured, mechanized and air and air-desant divisions, it is worse on the side of Axis, or rather "German" because here we can choose only German divisions (one has Italian volunteer units). Of course, this is historically correct, and the German divisions have the same diversity as the Allied divisions. De facto, the Axis does not need Italian, Hungarian or Romanian because these did not play a major role in the conflict. However, the question mark remains the addition of the Western Front in the DLC in the future, or even the Pacific with the war on the sea, following the example of Wargame Red Dragon. Interesting is also the direction in which Eugen developed the game in the last DLC.

A great change in comparison with the Wargame series is also the introduction of command units to the game, which with their presence significantly improves accuracy or resistance to infantry nailing. Their proper use can have a significant impact in direct duels, which de facto makes it profitable to eliminate command units first to make it easier to break the resistance of the rest of the units.

And what is missing from the game?
-more maps and their diversity, adding local maps (Caen, Cherbourg, etc.) and more open maps and those based on river/river in the middle of the map.
balance of anti-aircraft weapon, which is currently useless in any form against aviation (as of 27.09.2017)
-balance of some divisions, especially Panzer Lehr, which may literally flood the game with Tigers and Royal Tigers (3 Royal Tigers and 4 Ordinary Tigers available, including Panthers and Jagdpanzers)
-German divisions have interesting units and in phases A, but they are useless - go here and here mainly for the conquered French, Italian tanks, etc. These units lack character to such an extent that they would have a decisive moment in which the moment of the match.
-In the game there is no possibility for paratroopers to jump from parachutes. Unfortunately, the creators were afraid to introduce this type of variety most probably in fear of losing the balance of entertainment, but in a few cases maps could be an interesting solution (e.g. small groups of scouts dropped on enemy lines).
-there are no other fronts.... In my opinion, the creators made a mistake focusing exclusively on Normandy. If they decided to introduce the Italian front and maps/missions from the time of Operation Market Garden and the Offensive in Ardennes, the game would gain in variety of units as well as maps and gameplay modes, I hope that the game will be expanded to include these fronts and not as a separate title but as a DLC maximum.
