Valentine's Day 2021 recap - Getting ready for Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto!

The Valentine's Day 2021 event has come to an end. During the event I encountered 2 Shiny Pokémon. This Shiny Chansey that I mentioned in the previous post, and since then I also encountered a Shiny Feebas. Which is my 2nd so I could evolve one into Milotic now to have both of them.

I've caught several Munna throughout the event. Out of these I caught one 96% IV so that was really great! There was a continuation of the bonus with more chance to become Lucky Friends and Pokémon to become Lucky after trades. So I did quite a bit of trading. I managed to get a 100% Eevee out of these trades. From a Lucky Trade I got this 96% Articuno which is now one of my best IV Articuno and worthy of including in this post!

From trading the Munna I got a total of 4 Lucky Munna. The best out of those is a 98% IV, unfortunately with 14 Attack. Although it doesn't matter as much, because I likely won't be using Musharna due to stronger Psychic-type Pokémon being available. Just maybe as a back up it could be nice, in which case I'd prefer a 15 attack.

Due to being unlikely to really use it, and thus wanting to keep the highest % IV, I decided to evolve this Lucky 98% into Musharna. Which requires 50 Munna Candy and an Unova Stone. That way I can register Musharna in my Pokédex and immediately have it as Lucky in the Pokédex too. You can see it evolved and being registered in the Pokédex here.

This February 20th the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event will be taking place, a paid ticket event. There will also be some features for Trainers who did not purchase a ticket. If you purchased a ticket, you have to choose whether you want to play the Pokémon Red or Pokémon Green version. Which will have version exclusives. To do that, go to your items, scroll down to find the Ticket and click on it. Then scroll down in the text to see the buttons "Choose Red" and "Choose Green", then click the one you want.

The event will start at 9 am local time and last through 9 pm local time. The first 5 hours will see a specific region from the game for 1 hour per region. These will have certain spawns within that hour. After those 5 hours they will all come back one more time. Then in the last 2 hours all Pokémon featured in the specific hours will come back. These spawns will be available for non-ticket holders as well.

There will be 5 collection challenges for all the featured regions, and 5 more generic collection challenges. They will be available until February 28 at 8 pm local time.

Special Research will be available and can be completed during or after the event like any other Special Research stays available.

Masterwork Research will become available after finishing the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research. This one is designed to be completed over a long period of time and will reward us with a Shiny Mew encounter!

Free items will be available to grant us with 3 Remote Raid Passes and 200 Poké Balls. They're included with the event.

Up to 9 Daily Raid Passes can be received during the event hours by spinning at a Gym's Photo Disc whenever you've used one of them.

Incense will attract version-exclusive Pokémon during the event.

All Trainers, no matter if you own a Ticket or not, will be available to enjoy:

• Featured Trainer characters as challenges at Pokéstops. There will be event-exclusive Timed Research to battle these Trainers.
• Evolve Ivysaur to Venusaur to get Frenzy Plant
• Evolve Wartortle to Blastoise to get Hydro Cannon
• Evolve Charmeleon to Charizard to get Blast Burn
• Themed spawns during event hours
• Each location-themed hour will featured music inspired by Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, created by those games' original composer, Junichi Masuda. So turn up that volume to listen to it.
