After the Swinub Incense-Day event, the Season of Heritage story continues. The next part reads:

"Success! A part of the mysterious door located at the historical cave site has been activated!

The rumbling caused by the movement of the door’s locking mechanism disturbed the Pokémon living within the cave—and with them appeared Druddigon, a Pokémon never before seen in Pokémon GO! Druddigon, the Cave Pokémon, is known to dwell within the Unova region’s Dragonspiral Tower.

Upon further inspection, Professor Willow has deduced that many of the emerging Pokémon are also known to call Dragonspiral Tower their home! Professor Willow also believes the unprecedented surge of Fire-, Electric-, and Ice-type Pokémon appearances may somehow be connected to Unova’s Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon: Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem!

There’s no time to waste, Trainers—let’s investigate!"

Which comes with an event called Dragonspiral Descent, which is inspired by the Dragonspiral Tower in Unova. This event started today and will run through Sunday December 12 at 8 pm local time.

With this event Druddigon, the Cave Pokémon, is making its debut in Pokémon GO. This Pokémon was originally discovered in the Unova region and dwells there within the Dragonspiral Tower.

What's more unlikely is that Shiny Druddigon will immediately become available as well with this event. The downside is that Druddigon won't be appearing in the Wild just yet.

With this event, the following Pokémon are appearing more often in the wild:

  • Vulpix
  • Seel
  • Dratini
  • Mareep
  • Sneasel
  • Trapinch
  • Blitzle
  • Darumaka

Additional, but rare spawns are:

  • Dragonair
  • Vibrava
  • Deino

I believe this is the first time Deino is properly appearing in the wild. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This event has a Collection Challenge. It requires you to catch all of the Pokémon mentioned before, except for Deino.

Here you can see the Collection Challenge and a screenshot included that I finished it already.

This Collection Challenge is the guaranteed way to get a Druddigon. That is how I got my first and only Druddigon today. Here you can see some photos from the encounter and its Pokédex registry.

Of course there is another way to get Druddigon, especially with its Shiny becoming available immediately they wouldn't give us just 1. The additional was is through Field Research Tasks. There are 4 Event Field Research Tasks, this is the list:

  • Make 3 Nice Curveball Throws in a Row: Dratini
  • Win a Raid: Deino
  • Win a Raid in under 60 seconds: Sneasel
  • Win 3 Raids: Durdiggon

So as you can see, the other way to get Druddigon is to find some of that Field Research Task and then do 3 Raids. It's also in the 3-star Raids throughout the event. But that means apart from the Collection Challenge, the only way to get multiple Druddigon for now is by doing Raids. Either Druddigon Raids and/or completing the Win 3 Raids Field Research Tasks.

In the store you can find a Special Bundle that contains 3 Remote Raid Passes for 175 PokéCoins compared to the pack of 3 Remote Raid Passes for 250 PokéCoins that's always in the store. It's not a huge discount, but still something.

I'm mostly looking forward to the Dragon-types that are spawning. Especially Deino in the wild now. But some of the other spawns as well to start getting some more XL Candy for them.

Which spawns are you looking forward the most?
