Comix Zone Receives Improvement Hack
Comix Zone, a game that held a lot of potential upon release, is getting a new lease on life thanks to fans. Comix Zone – Calcium Kid Edition makes some changes to the basic gameplay which culminates in a more balanced game with a pro-dairy narrative.
Battles one panel at a time
Comix Zone tells the tale of a comic artist that was some how caught up in his comic. He must complete challenges such as solving puzzles and defeating enemies in a very comic book style action game. This is what set Comix Zone apart from the other titles available at the time. Sadly, Sega did not continue this idea with more games on their Genesis or Sega Saturn consoles and by the time the Dreamcast rolled around, fans all but forgot about Comix Zone.
What about those changes
The changes made are some basic ones, but they are profound in how they change the challenge level of Comix Zone. First Calcium Kid, formerly Sketch, no longer receives damage when attacking inanimate objects with kicks or punches. Not sure why Sega included that in the first place so if it annoyed you, grab this hack and it is as good as gone.
Next, drinking milk now completely heals the main character rather than just healing partially. This should help with later levels and the challenges you face there.
Finally, Sketch Turner is now called “The Calcium Kid”, though graphically, they are the same. Just some edits to the text in the game.
