RE: Imagining The Future: An Inter-Planetary Human Civilisation
Planets are over rated. Most people spend most of their time indoors now. How would it be different to live INSIDE of a hollowed out and spun up (for gravity) asteroid. Make a habitat from an asteroid will be MUCH cheaper than terraforming a planet and there is millions of times MORE potential living space available.
There are eleventy-seven gazillion asteroids.
Living in asteroid may seem like a good idea as well. Personally I think, planets have more of a stable orbit around the stars, so that maybe safer? I don't know about the trajectory of asteroids that much, I tend to think they could smash into planets.
