12 trends in FunTech (part 3)

in #funtech5 years ago (edited)

The concluding part of our story (1, 2) about the major trends in FunTech that are just about to unfold in the year 2019.

9. VR in porn. Hands on

You honestly through that that we can get through this list without mentioning PornTech? For the massive outbreak, VR technologies lack only two things: killer-device and killer-product. Let's assume that Oculus will close the former issue.

The latter one will be on creators and distributors of the adult content. The "future" of VR porn is not topical anymore, just take a look at the traffic charts for VR. What online searches are the most popular?

Believe it or not, but porn may once again (as it has already done a couple of times in history) serve as a driver of the technological outbreak like it was with CPA and payment systems.

What awaits us:

  • Streaming of adult content in VR
  • Distant interaction technologies
  • WebCam 2.0
  • Deepfakes in VR

10. SilverTech

A recent report by Mangrove Capital Partners is must read, give it a try. The gist of this paper is that the new elderly is not the old elderly. The seniors 2.0 are more active (thanks to achievements in medicine). They have more energy, time and money for leisure. This new consumer class is forming as we speak together with increasing average life expectancy.

What awaits us:

  • Digital entertainment for 60-70 year-olds
  • The collision of offline and online
  • Migration of offline entertainments to online

11. AI and ML. Personalization of everything

What a report on trends would it be without the AI? There's a gold era approaching for AI and ML. However, don't think that the "Godly smart brain" will analyze everything and give the digital result. There's nothing to analyze so far. The systems are learning on the go.

The data will be gathered by a kettle, door lock and your dog's collar. This trend will also touch upon the entertainment industry. From Tinder, where the profiles will pop up in a more personalized way, to the True Detective ending.

What awaits us:

  • More big data. Its providers and aggregators
  • Personalized content
  • Real-time personalization

12. Privacy. The same but different

While you're probably raging over the looming reality of total surveillance, we're here to calm you down. Private data collection will stumble upon the obstacles of privacy in all its forms.

The first hundred-million-Dollar fines related GDPR, destruction of Facebook in Congress - it's only the beginning. And it will most certainly affect the sphere of entertainment.
