Players Championship

Hi Friends,

This week, the PGA tour hosts one of my favorite events of the year – The Players Championship.

The 4 day event is held at TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course with a whopping $2.7 million dollars to the winner. This prestigious event attracts the best golfers in the world so it promises to be a great event.

The coronavirus fears be damned as the golfers and fans head down to Florida where the weather looks to be in the mid 70 degrees and partly cloudy for the event. The 17th hole is one of my favorite on tour with a par 3 island green – while not a difficult hole naturally, the fact that it is an island and there are thousands watching gets in the players heads and they can post a high score if they cant handle the pressure.

The oddsmakers have Rory McIlroy as the favorite to win, followed closely by Jon Rahm. Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the tournament with an injury, but Brooks Koepka is hoping to turn his season around after lackluster golf this year. Keep an eye out on sleepers Gary Woodland, Sungjae IM and Tyrell Hatton as players who could play well in this elite field. Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler have played inconsistent golf lately, so will they be able to step up this week?
