"Ithaqa" Fundition Update #34 - Fulfilment Continues
Hey, all! My comicbook sleeves were delayed so I havent been able to get the comics mailed out yet, but I should be able to begin today.
In more exciting news, "Ithaqa" Issue 1 is officially going to be carried in our first brick and mortar bookstore, Little City Books in Hoboken! They're only going to buy 1 at a time it seems.... but it's something!!
Also, as per my last post I have some questions I could use you guys to weigh in on in regards to shipping comics!
My questions are more along the lines of:
Is shipping things "media mail" cheaper than other forms? I know comics are usually banned because of their advertisements, but Ithaqa has no advertisements and may be eligible.
I just need a flat envelope for mailing things, because all our rewards are flat, is there a cheaper option than the flat rate priority mail envelopes? Cause that shits 7.25 dollars minimum...
Whats a good way to type up and print a BUNCH of shipping labels?
Anything else I should be thinking about?

Congrats on being carried at an actual book store ! Even 1 issue at a time is really exciting, I think :D :D :D
It's a weird feeling, because it's such a big deal, but my brain is just like, "It's not big deal! It's one copy on a shelf!!"
But if 2 years ago I saw this future I would have been so astonished to find that we would make it this far.
It's like every triumph has been a little baby step, and we've had so many little triumphs, that by the time we got here it didn't seem like a big deal.
Like the story about the frog in boiling water, if you turn up the heat slowly, he doesn't notice.

In the long run it might not save a ton over priority mail but a couple bucks a book is still a big deal. Looks like under “normal” mail rules you’d pay $4-$5 to ship each one out as a parcel. It’s classified as a parcel if it’s rigid and non bendable. So with supplies included you’d still be ~$2 under the Priority price.
I’d definitely request media mail. From what I’ve read it can really just vary depending on the post office and clerk unfortunately, but it could really help cut the cost.
Would a manilla folder be cheaper?
I could then put "don't bend" stickers on it as well as reinforce on both sides with some card paper?
