Fruits and Veggies Monday - Local Produce from my Village

Hello everyone, Its another wonderful #fruitsandveggiesmonday initiated by a fantastic steemian @lenasveganliving.

I am not going to share a recipe today for a change, instead i will introduce you to some exotic fresh from southeast asia.

My parents brought me some local produce in our village from the Philippines all the way to Dubai, UAE. My parents will stay with me for a while to help me get through until i recovered from my surgery.

Here are some of the fruits and vegetables they brought

This is a type of yam. We usually boiled it for snack or breakfast. Its low in sugar, its filling and very tasty.
image

Philippine Banana plantain, this type of banana are usually for cooking, it is best to make banana fritters or springroll banana. My favourite way is to boil it, and really its delicious.

These is our native sweet potato, we have different colors of sweet potatoes in the philippines such as yellow, purple and white.
image

Rambutan - a southeast asian fruits, a weird looking monster ball with a similar taste to lychee. This delicious fruit is on season now in the Philippines.

Moringa - The superfood
image

This is an edible flower that can be added in any vegetable dish.
image

Please correct me if i am wrong, but i think this called a snake vegetable. It is usually added to vegetable stew and soup.
image

Its like snowpeas but its not. Its is thicker and harder than a snowpeas.
image

I was delighted to have them all again as they are not common where we live. They are versatile vegetable and is on season in the philippines.

I was lucky to have them taste again, i needed them for my fast recovery from surgery (cessarian operation) and to enhance my milk production.

everything are perfect for the recovery @sherylneil.. your little one is so cute and he's so lucky to taste all those fresh from his mother's village directly from her mother breastmilk too.. I wonder what are you going to do with the plantain, we call it Pisang Kepok here in Indonesia and the best way to enjoy it is deep fried it or boiled it and then add the steamed coconut grated pulp a dash of sugar and salt.. whoaaa! you'll be at your hometown in no time! Congratulations for having such a wonderful foods!

Hi @cicisaja. Thank you for your words. Yes, the plantain is similar how we cook it in the philippines except no grated coconut. My favourite way is to just boiled it, perfectfor snack. Yummy!

And it's half ripe we makae it as banana chips too😉 we live in such wonderful part of the world @sherylneil 😊 South East Asia!

Indeed @cicisaja. We are blessed with abundant tropics and its amazing!
Thanks again. Take care. X
