(1). Improve streets

Streets are the most common public spaces, but they are often hostile to pedestrians and cyclists, and end up congested with vehicular traffic. This simple principle is about planning streets for people and places, with the deliberate decision to design streets around all users with a range of street types to help strike the right balance. Creating good public space where it is most prevalent and most accessible adds to the social cohesion of the city the street.

Urban streets provide the setting for a wide range of urban street activities, which can be grouped under two broad types of street functions: ‘Link’ and ‘Place’.

As a Link, a street provides a conduit for through movement, and forms an integral part of the wider urban street network and other, more specialised, urban transport networks (e.g. on-street light rail network). A Link user may travel by a variety of modes, from private car or truck to bus, bicycle or on foot. Their essential need is to follow a continuous, linear path through the street network, with minimum disruption and a seamless connection from the beginning to the end of their journey. In general they are seeking to minimise travel time along each section of street.

As a Place, a street is a destination in its own right: a location where activities occur on or adjacent to the street. A Place user is someone wishing to make use of some of the features that are on that particular street, and will usually do so on foot. While such people are classified as ‘pedestrians’, they are not passing through the area they are spending time in the area, and may be carrying out a wide variety of activities . They are particularly affected by the noise and air pollution produced by vehicular traffic, and the general severance effect of heavy traffic volumes in inhibiting their movement between places on opposite sides of the street.

However, not all of the traffic and transport-related activity observed on urban streets is part of that street's Link function. There are also some types of Place-related activities that are directly connected with traffic and transport, and occur within and adjacent to the carriageway.

One of the key underpinnings for developing a more comprehensive and people-centred approach to street planning and design is the way in which street performance is assessed: is the current design meeting the requirements of the various street user groups, given the Link and Place functions of that street segment as defined in the Street Plan To achieve this requires the development of a suitable range of street performance indicators, which reflect the full range of street activities and conditions. the kinds of topics for which precise indicators might be developed. Note that some of these affect both Link and Place street user groups, and so have been placed in a joint column.

When streets will be improved many things will go easier important export will be easier transportation Will increase and many other things.

Create Squares and Parks

In fact, scientists at the University of Illinois discovered that adding more green spaces to urban environments can help reduce crime by as much as 50 percent. Increase social cohesion. Well-maintained parks can act as natural gathering places where community stakeholders form stronger social bonds.

Parks and protected public lands are proven to improve water quality, protect groundwater, prevent flooding, improve the quality of the air we breathe, provide vegetative buffers to development, produce habitat for wildlife, and provide a place for children and families to connect with nature and recreate outdoors

Parks are a tangible reflection of the quality of life in a community. They provide identity for citizens and are a major factor in the perception of quality of life in a given community. Parks and recreation services are often cited as one of the most important factors in surveys of how livable communities are.
Parks provide gathering places for families and social groups, as well as for individuals of all ages and economic status, regardless of their ability to pay for access.
An ongoing study by the Trust for Public Land shows that over the past decade, voter approval rates for bond measures to acquire parks and conserve open space exceeds 75%. Clearly, the majority of the public views parks as an essential priority for government spending.
Parks and recreation programs provide places for health and well-being that are accessible by persons of all ages and abilities, especially to those with disabilities.
In a 2007 survey of Fairfax County, VA, residents of 8 of 10 households rated a quality park system either very important or extremely important to their quality of life.
Research by the Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods indicates that community involvement in neighborhood parks is associated with lower levels of crime and vandalism
Access to parks and recreation opportunities has been strongly linked to reductions in crime and to reduced juvenile delinquency.
Parks have a value to communities that transcend the amount of dollars invested or the revenues gained from fees. Parks provide a sense of public pride and cohesion to every community.

Increase of infrastructure development

It needs to be emphasized that good quality infrastructure is important not only for faster economic growth but also to ensure inclusive growth. By inclusive growth we mean that benefits of growth are shared by the majority of the people of a country. Thus the inclusive growth will lead to the alleviation of poverty and reduction in income inequality in the country

The infrastructure is important for faster economic growth and alleviation of poverty in the country. The adequate infrastructure in the form of road and railway transport system, ports, power, airports and their efficient working is also needed for integration of the Indian economy with other economies of the world.

A distinguishing feature of infrastructure is that while the demand-supply gap in case of other factors can be met by importing some of them, the deficiency of infrastructure cannot be made up through imports. Because location-based the need for relevant infrastructure facility can be met through development of its capacity in the domestic economy. For example, you cannot import power facility, roads, ports or railways as they have to be built up in the domestic economy.

Lack of adequate infrastructure not only holds lack economic development, it also causes additional costs in terms of time, effort and money of the people for accessing essential social services such as healthcare and education. Emphasizing the importance of adequate infrastructure, authors of Economic Survey of India for the Year 2013 -14 quite rightly write, “Rural economic growth in recent years has put enormous pressure on existing infrastructure particularly on transport, energy and communication. Unless it is significantly improved infrastructure will continue to be a bottleneck for growth and obstacle to poverty reduction”. In other words, it is the challenge to ensure strong, sustainable and balanced development through integration of the economy with environmentally sustainable development of infrastructure.

It may be noted that with large investment in infrastructure during the last decade (2003-04 to 2013-14) India has become the second fastest growing economy of the world but in the two years (2012- March 2014) economic growth slowed down and this has been mainly due to the stalled infrastructure projects which held back economic development. It is therefore urgently needed that infrastructure projects be given environment clearance quickly and investment in them be speeded up if the Indian economy is to be brought back on the fast growth trajectory.

The availability of good quality infrastructure raises productivity levels in the economy and brings down costs of the enterprises. Besides, the availability of adequate infrastructure helps to expand trade not only within a country by improving transport facilities but also promote foreign trade through improvement of ports and airports. It also helps to diversify production by the firms as they are able to get the required supplies of raw materials and other inputs from the places where these are available in abundance. Furthermore, with improved infrastructure the firms can produce goods in accordance with the demands of the people of different regions and countries.

This is my first post i hope you like to. Thank you everyone.
