That hurts what you said, telling the mother that her son is lazy! It feels like you are talking about my brother and my oldest sister. Both of them were non-verbal and only started talking at the age of 4 or 5 when they had been in school for over a year and they pronounced every word perfectly. Some children are copy-cats and other children are bystanders and just do it when they need to. These children are highly intelligent and not lazy at all. Mom and I say the same thing today: that mouth never stops talking, but the conversations are only when it is about something they are super interested in and know a lot about. It is difficult for highly intelligent people to find someone to talk to, let alone be understood.
