Original Poetry – 'Stand By' (5 Minute Freewrite)
He whispered
A flash of green was all it took:
The light in your eyes
Made me helpless
And you will never know
I fall before you
Every day
When your path crosses mine
A silent wish hangs in the air:
Waiting
Yearning
Hoping
For those green eyes
To fall upon me
As I stand by ... helpless.
In my heart
I whisper
I fall before you
Every day
For now you know
With you
I am ... helpless.

Beautiful poem! I love the emotional stirring and identify with the helpless.

I had five minutes to try and convey the whirlwind of emotions that accompany sudden love at first sight: the anxiety, the elation, the wonder, and above all, the sense that we really have been rendered helpless – vulnerable, uncertain – because of it. Did my best with it! ❤️

I enjoyed your poem! Its the emotions of two lovers, there is a welling up inside, when you cross, I used to work with my wife before we were married, and I had the hardest time, she was my boss, and I had to be professional, in front of students and clients and it was so hard, I was helpless...:)
Oh yes, maintaining a professional facade around the person you're in love with is almost impossible! 😂
