Big Wheel Cave

There is a large cave on Mystic Island called, "Big Wheel." Folklore tells of a mutant, teenage boy who lived there and was raised by a dragon. The locals said that the mutant had dragon breath because it reeked of sulfur and he could start a fire with his horrendous cough. Another legend is that the boy was part dragon. He only had one friend, a young boy named Lahsmra who went to the cave daily while riding around on his Big Wheel.

After his first two visits to the cave, Lahsmra came home with small dragon figures. One was hand-carved from wood and the other was made from stone. Many more figures followed with each visit to the cave. They were made from lava, jade, amethyst, malachite and precious metals; not to be seen until a decade later.

On Lahsmra's 18th birthday, he opened a gallery on the island which is a popular tourist attraction to this day. The one of a kind, numbered figures of all different sizes and designs are of dragons, as well as figures of a boy who is half dragon. The legend goes on to say that Lahsmra is the one who made all of the figures but a sign tells a different story. It reads, "Hand-Made by Dragon's Breath." The cave is heavily guarded, so no one knows exactly who or what continues to make the much sought after figures.

My cute gif is brought to you by @snook. Thank you!

I really like this little story and wonder where
the word ''Lahsmra'' came from? especially
since it ends in RA.
Then the cave and a dragon make me wonder
if there was 12 figures that were carved? :-)

There is a lot more between the lines
of wood and stone ❤

You never know how a freewrite will turn out and this happens to be one of my favorites. You were the only one to comment so thank you very much for that @shasta! It is hard for me to think of a characters name that is unusual so sometimes I take a word or name and write it backwards or take a bunch of names and just use of a couple of letters from them and bunch them all up. That is how I came to "Lahsmra."
I can see how you came up with 12 figures but there were actually thousands of figures by the time he opened the studio. At least that was what came to my mind. LOL!
There sure is a lot more between the lines of wood and stone. Good for you to notice. : )
Thanks again for taking the time to read my story and for your comment. I sure do appreciate it. Hugs!
