I love this freewrite (and I hate it when someone calls when I'm not in the mood for it!) You really described the whole mental picture very well!
Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to answer the phone, even if I know who is calling!
I here you on that.
In the old days, of course, we used to have to actually answer the phone before we knew who it was.

I was at the tail-end of those days. I can still remember using a round dial punch in numbers. What long phone cords they had back then too.
