5 Minute Freewrite: Ducks!
DUCKS
There comes a time in your life when you just have to do the things you want to do.
I woke up one day and knew it was now time to take a stand, make a decision and push forward with my dream. I left the house early in the morning without telling my parents. They would disapprove for sure.
It was difficult for me too. I was leaving a girlfriend behind with no explanation whatsoever. I took one last look at the house I called home for 18 years. Turned around and pursued my dream.
It has now been more than 1 year since I started working on my dream. I had come this far. It was hard. I almost gave up many times but I found enough courage to pick myself up and push through.
Now I was living it! I never imagined it would be like this. No one is prepared for this kind of stuff. The movies never helped as well.
I sprinted forward to the outpost
Then I heard my commanding officer shout, “Duck!”
Bullets whizzed past me. The entire battlefield was being shelled.
“DUCK!”, this was what I heard for the rest of the war.
