"Five-minute Freewrite" Story: "Mother Superior"

It's been a while since I've done a post: I missed the crypto, so I figured "what the heck. " Here is a "freewrite" story, from @mariannewest's post here: https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-206-5-minute-freewrite-sunday-prompt-mother ; the prompt, "mother."

"Mother Superior"

Mother Superior had been wondering why she had yet to be promoted within the church; especially seeing as she'd been working there just over 15 years.

But Mother McCartney always fed her the same line as an answer: “Now, Mother Superior: just because your name implies you are “Holy,” doesn’t make you holier than…”

Superior hated it when Mother Mary said stuff like that--she knew she wasn’t supposed to be “wrathful;” but damn...

"Next!" The bank teller murfled through thick plasti-glass--

“*Only one more person, then it's my turn...” Mother thought.

Superior had been standing there—God knows how long. And it was starting to get hot...

Her mind must have wandered off yet again--and she was startled when she heard the woman who'd just approached the counter yell, “Put 'em up!!!”

This woman had pulled out a gun and was robbing the bank.

Before she could even think, Mother Superior planted a strategically-placed Judo-CHOP!! to the back of the robber’s neck; and that was that.

The next day, headlines read:

“MOTHER SUPERIOR JUMPS GUN; GETS RAISE”
