Prompt of the day “Rule” - Food Waist Isn’t Just Waist It’s Double The Problem!
Well I’m cooking while doing my #freewrite, making my lunch & dinner in the morning today. Mel will be cooking another meal this evening and we shall be back on track, we can’t stand waisting food and as a rule find ways of making use of it.
Not only is food waist a loss of money it’s also a waist of resources, those who produced what you purchased and those whom have to deal with it once thrown out. It’s compounding, your waisting the efforts of producers while adding to the problems with landfills.
Here in Victoria Canada we have a separate bin for food waist but it still kills me to throw anything out!
One thing we have done is find deals for our weekly meals through the online ordering options, they come with exactly the proportions you need. This relieves us of the problem of never knowing what to make and having random items left over from overzealous shopping.
Thus I am cooking this morning, writing of my culinary rule.
Throw Nothing Out!

Yes, it is sad to see how in many countries food is wasted while others lack much of it. I believe that when we all think and act as citizens of the planet and not as inhabitants of a country, the world can become something truly beautiful where to be.

And yeah it is pretty astonishing, I read somewhere close to 50% of all produce grown ends up being thrown out!

“Waste not want not!” I always figure if I throw it out some bug or rodent will just luck out somewhere! lol Out here the restaurants and schools save all extra food, label it “Slop” for the pigs! 🐖

Wow cool! thank you mate @d00k13 and Ahm! how did that happen your tag is six but the allowed is 5 tags i think? ha ha maybe on partiko apps they use six tags am i right?..
you can post on partiko and then edit here, the first tag is different hardwired, so you could change all but that and add more than the total allotted 5 here!

This is something I have taught the kids as far back as I can remember
Just take as much as you can eat
Food waste is really quite crazy especially when you consider all the hungry that can eat what you are throwing away....
Yea my mother grew up on the farm and was nearly religious in her enforcement about food waste also 😅 you and my mom I think would have gotten along quite well on that subject 😉
I get it now, definitely didn’t when I was younger .... the world was a whole lot bigger back then and we should have no excuse any longer!
