SOUND OF SIRENS (5-minute Freewrite)

If you'll permit me, I am going to challenge myself to stay in the same story for all the 5-minute Freewrite Prompts for the month of February! Let's see how this turns out...

The sound of sirens rolled down the narrow streets and spilled onto the dock filled with cruise passengers. Lights ricocheted off the rain slicked plaster walls as heads turned to see what was about to happen. Felix stood, grabbed his bag from the overhead compartment, and left the Bouncing Boy behind on the bus.

Out in the furious wind and torrential rain, Felix could make out the two queues for the gangplank. He had to get on that boat. His entire reputation at home, and his next few months of employment depended on his making to the top of that gangplank.

Felix pushed through the crowd as the police cars fish tailed across puddles on the dock. Officers jumped out of their cruisers and began to turn buses around. The storm was getting stronger, and the authorities would try to keep the boat in port until she passed.

Head lowered, his eyes on the prize, Felix pretended to be the full back he never was at home, and broke through the crowd for the deck of the waiting ship.
