How to easily and legally add free images to your Steemit posts
Very often an image says more than a thousand words and adding at least one image to your Steemit post makes it much easier for other Steemit users to browse through a list of your posts or e.g. browsing through posts related to a specific tac.
However, very often images are not legal to use
- unless you took them or made them yourself
- unless you got the permission from the owner of the image
- unless you purchased a license to use the image
However, there are free images for you to use e.g. here on #Steemit e.g. via #Pixabay - it is easy to use, you to dot have to download the images and re-upload them, you can display them directly via Pixabay.
Here is how you do:
- Go to Pixabay.com
- Search for a topic related to your Steemit post and find one you like and that is related to your Steemit post topic
- Click on the images you want to use on our Steemit post - Be careful by mistake not to use any of the sponsored images as they often require you to purchase a license
- Look at the column to the right of the image and make sure to read the conditions of using the image, if e.g. it states: 'Free for commercial use, No attribution required' - you've found an image you can use on your Steemit post
- Right-click on the image on Pixabay and a dialog box appears, and choose 'Copy image address'
- Now go to your Steemit post and write this 'Markdown' code whick you can use to display images on your Steemit post. Syntax:
![Image description](image-url)
- In 'Image description' you write a few words about the image (use for the image's alt-attribute', and in the 'image-url' you past the image address you previously copied in step 5, e.g.
![Get free images for Steemit on Pixabay](https://pixabay.com/static/uploads/photo/2016/08/06/01/58/pixabay-1573735_960_720.jpg)
- Now you have embedded a free image into your Steemit post and it will be visible both in Steemit category/tags pages as well as when your Steemit post is viewed and read
Keep steeming :)
