A LITTLE REMINDER

While working on the farm digging a hole for the footings to the outdoor shower I dug up this rock. With closer inspection I realized it was full of fossils. There are two main types of fossils, body fossils and trace fossils. Body fossils are the preserved remains of a plant or animal’s body. Trace fossils are the remains of the activity of an animal, such as preserved trackways, footprints, fossilized egg shells, and nests. Both types of fossils were apparent in this piece of rock.

After taking a closer look at this rock, I located a preserved shell still intacked. After admiring my find, I experienced an overwhelming feeling of insignificance. Sometimes we think that the world revloves around us, but in fact we are no more than a speck of sand on this earth. We all need to get over ourselves and come to the conclusion that our life will pass in a blink of the eye.
